These are available as a pdf at the end of this page The Laws of The Game’ should be a guide for the referee for ‘Small Sided’ soccer tournaments, with the spirit of the law being more important than the letters of the law. APPRECIATION OF THE NEEDS OF THE CHILD ARE ESSENTIAL. We expect all teams, officials and supporters to abide to the current F.A. ‘RESPECT’ campaign. Team Managers – It is the team manager’s responsibility to maintain and control his personal touchline management. It is also the team manager’s responsibility to control his coaching assistants, players, parents and guardians of their team under his/her guidance. It is of paramount importance that all of the above conduct themselves in the spirit of the tournament. Should the organizing committee deem the behavior as un-sporting and not to a level that is expected, then this could seriously jeopardize the position of your team within the tournament. Ball size – U8's = size 3 ; U9’s to U14’s = size 4 No. of players 6 players + 2 rolling subs. Permission to enter the field of play must be that of the referee. No player is allowed to play for any other team or club during the tournament, failure to comply with this rule will mean disqualification of both teams from the tournament. Permission is needed from the tournament committee. Playing Equipment – All players must wear shin pads. Goalkeepers must where a distinguishing playing strip. Football boots or trainers to be worn. Referee’s Authority – To enforce the laws of the game in connection with the match to which they have been appointed. All ‘Laws of the Game’ apply when a foul is committed i.e. trips, handball, blatant obstruction etc. No ‘offside’ rule. Proper ‘throw ins’, no under arm throws. Normal corners. The ‘backpass’ rule applies and a direct free kick will be awarded to the attacking team on the marked goal area as deemed by the referee. The ‘backpass’ rule to simplify means – ‘if a player plays a direct pass to his/her goalkeeper, the goalkeeper must not handle the ball’. Outfield players can enter the GK area and the GK is allowed out of the area. There is no head height restriction. The referees decision is Final Goalkeepers - Are not allowed to handle the ball from a ‘throw in’. No hand to ball kicks and no bouncing of the ball prior to kicking. A direct free kick from the edge of the area, at referee’s discretion, will be awarded if this rule is broken. They can distribute the ball throwing under or over arm. Goal kicks will be treated as dead balls and therefore not live until the GK strikes the ball. The GK will have approx 6 seconds to distribute the ball; a direct free kick will be awarded at the referee’s discretion for repeated infringement. Free Kicks – Opponents must be 5 yards from the ball. All free kicks are direct. A penalty will be awarded if an offence has occurred in the box by a defending player. Serious Foul Play Laws of association football will apply Any player who is sent off will play no further part in the tournament, and cannot be replaced by another squad member. Play Duration and Extra Time - The duration of each half will be 5 minutes. There is to be no shooting direct from a ‘kick off’. In the knockout stages a period of 2 minutes each way of extra time. If scores are still equal a penalty shoot out will determine the winner. Only players on the pitch at the final whistle will take part in the penalty shoot out. All 6 players will take a penalty. All players must wait on the half way line and await their turn. If still equal, then a ‘sudden death’ penalty shoot out, by the same players, will take place. Game Results – The winning team captain will take the referees score card to the organizers enclosure. In the event of a draw, both team captains shall report. In the league stages, if 2 sides are equal on points at the end of all league games, teams will be separated in this order – best goal difference, most goals scored and then the winner of the league game between the 2 sides, if the game was drawn a penalty shoot out to confirm who qualifies Then at the discretion of the organizing committee. 3 point for a win. 1 point for a draw. The referee will keep a record of all games that he/she has officiated. Normal ‘mini soccer’ rules apply to U8's, U9’s and U10’s . Above all – enjoy yourselves and the day!!
